Five firms raided for service tax evasion
RAJKOT: The anti-evasion wing of Rajkot central excise raided various premises of five service providers in and around Jamnagar and detected evasions running into crores.
According to sources, mass raids were conducted on September 1 by the team of preventive officers of service tax wing at the premises of Penta Global Engineering, Penta Contractors, Mishra Construction, Kamdhenu Infrastructure and Jay Hind Buildcon and unearthed the detection of service tax evasion.
“We have detected service tax evasion to the tune of Rs 3 crore initially. Detailed scrutiny of papers recovered during the proceedings is going on,” a senior official told TOI.
These firms are engaged in industrial construction and erection and commissioning services to the big corporate houses situated in and around Jamnagar city. The raids and the proceedings were carried out under the supervision of BK Singh, additional commissioner and Daulat Kumar, assistant commissioner.
