BJP joins chorus against APPSC over paper ‘leak’
ITANAGAR: The BJP expressed solidarity with Ujum Perying, an aspiring civil servant who is currently on a 72-hour hunger strike to protest against the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Combined Examination 2014 ‘paper leak’ on September 24, 2014.
The ‘paper leak’ has put the future of thousands of civil service aspirants at stake.
“We express our support to Pering and her supporters who have set an example of non-violent protest to express their grievance,” the party’s chief spokesperson R K Khrimey told the media here this morning. He added that APPSC should ensure fair and transparent recruitment.
Referring to the inquiry by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) ordered by the state government, the BJP leader said the Commission should act fast to save the careers of the students.
Recalling another paper leak incident at IIT, he commended the institute authorities for taking the ‘bold’ decision to conduct fresh examination without waiting for the enquiry report.
“We will approach the governor to apprise him of the matter, request him to dissolve the Commission and re-conduct the entire examination,” he added.
Meanwhile, ignoring assurances from the state government, as well as the Commission, Perying continued her fast for the third day on Saturday. She was flanked by her colleagues and members of various organizations. “We are ready to talk to the state government but we will not move away from our demand. We have caught the Commission red-handed,” Perying said.
