Delhi border-Sector 32 area to be under constant surveillance
NOIDA: High-definition, closed-circuit television cameras will soon be installed across the city by the Noida Authority as part of measures to strengthen security and check crime.
Authority chairman and CEO Rama Raman said that it has already started developing the security and surveillance system for Noida, spanning a 20 sq km area from the border with east Delhi to Sector 32, which includes the city’s prime locations such as Sector 18 and upscale residential areas.
“After the successful trial of the intelligent traffic management system (ITMS) on 23.5 km Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, we want to replicate the system in the city. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 100 crore and work on the ground will begin next month,” Raman told TOI.
The project will be carried out in three phases. In the first phase, CCTV cameras would be installed at the two entry points to Noida, one from Delhi and the other from Ghaziabad; in the second phase, cameras would be installed along the 20sqkm route; and the third phase involves installation near government offices, hospitals, malls and traffic junctions.
“A control room will be set up near Mahamaya flyover, from where officials would monitor the areas under CCTV surveillance. The aim of the project is to provide a secure environment in Noida for the residents as well as for the businesses,” Raman said.
Officials said that to implement the project on the ground, the Noida Authority has already shortlisted seven companies, which have submitted an expression of interest, indicating to bid.
Noida’s traffic cell in-charge Sandeep Chandra said, “Once one of the seven companies is selected after a proper bidding process, work will start within a week.”
