Two FIRs lodged against Sahara group
Two first information reports (FIRs) have been registered against the Sahara India Parivar at Ballabgarh City police station here for allegedly cheating flat buyers of several lakh rupees under its Sahara City homes scheme. The FIRs have been lodged following court orders.
“Allured” and “induced”
According to the FIRs, both the complainants were “allured” and “induced” by the company to book flats under Sahara City homes scheme at Gadpuri/Prithla village. They were also assured that the said flats in the proposed project will be constructed and completed within a period of two years from the date of booking. The complainants were assured that they will be handed over the physical possession of the flats latest by 2007, but more than eight years have lapsed since booking and construction has not even begun.
Complainant Sanjay Sharma, a resident of Jain Colony in Faridabad, paid Rs.4.98 lakh and booked five two-bedroom flats in the scheme. Another complainant Satish Mittal of Ward No.5 booked a single flat against a payment of over Rs.1 lakh.
In 2009, Mr. Sharma filed a cancellation application seeking refund of the deposited money, but no refund has been made till date.
Later, the complainants sought information under the Right to Information Act to discover that the accused did not even have the licence to develop a housing society at the said site, which now falls under Palwal district. Following this, Mr. Mittal sent a legal notice to the accused seeking a refund with interest, but he did not get any satisfactory reply, said the FIR.
Mr. Sharma, in the FIR, has charged the accused with issuing death threats to him and his family.
