Assets worth crores unearthed as Lokayukta raids premises of MP IPS officer
INDORE/BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta has reportedly found disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees from the residence of a serving IPS officer, Mayank Jain, during raids conducted across four districts early on Thursday.
Jain is a 1995 batch IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre and is currently posted as Inspector general (IG) community policing.
The raids, on the residential premises of Jain at Bhopal, Ujjain, Rewa, Indore and Khargone revealed crores worth of unaccounted wealth in fixed deposits, insurance policies, jewellery and immovable properties, its alleged.
“We recovered huge incriminating documents. Searches are on,” Ujjain Lokayukta SP Arun Mishra told TOI.
He was posted as deputy IG Ujjain for long.
Besides the IG was found to have disproportionately acquired 45 acres of land in Khargone, three flats at Indore (DLF Garden, Grand Exotica, Kanchan Sagar), two flats at Bhopal (Kolar and Mahabali Nagar), nursing homes at Bhopal and Rewa, and a thrasher unit at Raokhedi village in Indore.
This is the first action on any IPS officer by the Lokayukta police.
